11/20/2023 0 Comments Malphite mid 7.18![]() ![]() This was a meta Malzahar could thrive in thanks to the ability to push in his lane opponent and roam bot for an easy kill or two on two squishy champions, and later on in teamfights when he could ult the single tank and take away the initiation of the opposing team. ![]() If we include worlds which was patch 7.18, he was picked 10 times with a win rate of 90% (courtesy of oracles elixir), three of those were picked blind in the finals! That's because during worlds and the latter part of season 7 the usual counters of poke (such as MF support) or poke mid laners (such as Azir and Xerath) were not favorable in the meta that was filled with tank tops/junglers, and a bot lane that would come online at 35 minutes. If we look to the last few patches, his winrate has hovered at or above 54% from patches 7.19 to 7.21. Let's start by looking at the runes and his historical winrate. Is the meta favoring him? Did the new runes give him a huge boost? Is he just broken op? Let's go through some of the reasons and find out. As we all know a lot of people will ask themselves, "who's op on this patch?" or in this case, "who's been op for most of season 7 and is still probably very strong?" Looking at champion.gg's stats on him, we can see that in both top and mid Malzahar's winrate is number 1 at 55.71% and 54.32% respectively.
